Rmcesu WY imagine post-fire monitoring and assessment

The Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management Wyoming Region awarded the University of Wyoming a cooperative agreement totaling $119,606.27 on September 30, 2025, under the Invasive and Noxious Plant Management program (CFDA 15.230).

The funding supports post-fire monitoring and assessment of invasive plant impacts across Wyoming landscapes following the 2024 wildfires. The University will collect field data on invasive and native plant interactions in burned areas, develop a shared information network to support ecosystem-level understanding of invasive plant effects, and create decision-support tools and maps for land managers. Deliverables include scientific support for vegetation restoration planning at local, regional, and state levels; coordinated tracking and recording of invasive grasses and other species; plant data analysis and sharing; and research addressing management questions. The University will provide advisory support to land managers implementing post-fire vegetation projects and lead collaborative work with local organizations.

Performance occurs in Wyoming from September 30, 2025 through September 29, 2030. The University of Wyoming, a land-grant research institution, receives the award as the prime recipient for this cooperative agreement work.
