THIS PROPOSAL REQUESTS $44,925.51 FROM THE FY25 MANAGEMENT STUDIES SUPPORT PROGRAM TO SUPPORT A CLASS III NON-COLLECTION ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF 1,000 ACRES OF BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT (BLM)-ADMINISTERED LAND WITHIN THE SONORAN DESERT NATIONAL MONUMENT, A UNIT OF THE NATIONAL CONSERVATION LANDS IN SOUTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA. THE AREA WAS RECENTLY OPENED TO RECREATIONAL TARGET SHOOTING UNDER A 2024 RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN AMENDMENT. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE THE BLM WITH INFORMATION THAT SUPPORTS PLANNING DECISIONS AND ACTIONS TO ENSURE THAT MONUMENT OBJECTS RECEIVE THE CARE AND MANAGEMENT ENVISIONED BY PRESIDENTIAL PROCLAMATION 7397.THE REQUESTED FUNDS WILL COVER EXPENSES RELATED TO FIELDWORK, ANALYSIS, AND REPORT PREPARATION. A HIGHLY EXPERIENCED TEAM OF ARCHAEOLOGISTS, SUPPORTED BY VOLUNTEER CITIZEN SCIENTISTS, WILL CONDUCT THE FIELDWORK.
