THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE DATABASE IDENTIFYING BOTH THE HISTORIC AND CURRENT NATIVE NATIONS AND COMMUNITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE SECTIONS OF THE CALIFORNIA TRAIL MANAGED BY BLM, THEIR ENGAGEMENT WITH BLM AND THEIR TOURISM ASSETS ALONG THE TRAIL. AIANTA, USING OUR SIGNATURE PROTOCOLS, WILL CONDUCT RESEARCH AND OUTREACH TO DEVELOP THE FINAL DELIVERABLE OF A COMPREHENSIVE DATABASE OF THE NATIVE NATIONS AND COMMUNITIES (HISTORIC AND CURRENT) ASSOCIATED WITH THE SECTIONS OF THE CALIFORNIA TRAIL MANAGED BY THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT. IT WILL SUPPORT EFFORTS IN CULTURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, INTERPRETATION, AND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT WHILE HONORING TRIBAL SOVEREIGNTY AND HERITAGE. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES OF THIS WORK ARE THE NATIVE NATIONS AND COMMUNITIES HISTORICALLY LINKED TO THE CALIFORNIA TRAIL THAT ARE CONNECTED TO BLM THROUGH INFORMAL AND FORMAL RELATIONSHIP BUILDING ENABLED BY A COMPREHENSIVE DATABASE. BY IMPROVING VISIBILITY, ACCESS AND COMMUNICATION PATHWAYS, THE DATABASE WILL ENHANCE COLLABORATION AND SUPPORT FUTURE PLANNING EFFORTS. AIANTA WILL NOT BE ENGAGING WITH ANY SUB-RECIPIENTS FOR THIS PROJECT.
