Description
Funding opportunity number: L24AS00081 funding opportunity goals:the purpose of this project is to update and relaunch the native seed network website (WWW.nativeseednetwork.ORG), an online service that connects habitat restoration practitioners with seed producers. The website is a catalyst for the native seed industry, promoting market stability and creating jobs for rural seed producers. This project involves the development of an interactive website that connects seed producers and buyers. To do so, we will survey seed producers and existing seed partnerships in the US to identify and incorporate their priorities, offer to list their seed products on the website. This information will allow US to build interactive maps that allow users to locate available seed and click through to nursery websites to complete purchases. We will build a hub that connects seed users with online decision tools, such as the climate smart seedlot selection tool and others, which can be difficult for users to find and understand. The hub will provide information on which tools to use for different user defined questions to improve the availability and efficiency of these existing online resources. Inaddition, we will contact the current native seed partnerships in the US and offer to list them on our partnership page so that these partnerships can attract new members, link with each other, exchange expertise and information, and coordinate geographical boundaries of the regions they serve. IAE staff will engage database and website design contractors and direct all aspects of the website development. The primary deliverable for the project will be the relaunched website, and the intended outcome will be a more efficient, stable and accessible native seed market for buyers and sellers as well as greater success and resilience of habitat restoration on public lands. We do not anticipate any subrecipient activities for this project. The project is forecasted for five years.
