THE MISSION OF THIS PROJECT IS TO CONTROL WEEDS USING INTEGRATED WEED MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES ON BLM MANAGED LAND IN CUSTER COUNTY. OBJECTIVE 1: CONTROL NOXIOUS WEEDS WITH HERBICIDE. USE OF HERBICIDE AS A WEED MANAGEMENT TOOL SUPPORTS THE MISSION BY PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE MEANS OF QUICKLY ERADICATING NEW WEED INFESTATIONS AND BY PROVIDING SOME RESIDUAL CONTROL IN MORE ESTABLISHED INFESTATIONS. OBJECTIVE 2: REDUCE THE SEED SOURCES AND SPREAD OF NOXIOUS WEEDS WITH BIOLOGICAL CONTROL. BIOLOGICAL CONTROL CONTRIBUTES TO THE MISSION BY DIVERSIFYING WEED MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES FOR A MORE INTEGRATED APPROACH TO WEED CONTROL. BIOLOGICAL CONTROL IS UTILIZED IN AREAS OF LARGER INFESTATIONS TO THIN OLDER, MORE ESTABLISHED WEED PATCHES.
