The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) awarded a $2,606,862.14 Cooperative Agreement to the Lomakatsi Restoration Project, a non-profit organization based in Ashland, Oregon. The funding is provided through the BLM's Forest and Woodlands Resource Management program (CFDA 15.233) and will support the implementation of the Rogue Basin Cohesive Forest Restoration Strategy and the Klamath-Siskiyou Strategic Conservation Action Plan. The Cooperative Agreement will fund 250 acres of oak restoration on BLM-administered lands in Oregon between 2024-2026, as the first phase of a larger landscape-scale restoration initiative. In total, the project aims to implement restoration treatments on approximately 3,000 acres of private non-industrial and BLM-administered lands, leveraging additional state, federal, and philanthropic funding sources. The restoration activities will include vegetation management, prescribed fire, noxious weed control, and wildlife habitat restoration to promote healthy forest stands, reduce fire hazards, and achieve other land management objectives.
