Description

The purpose of this update to the reasonably foreseeable development scenario (RFD) is to analyze the known and potential oil and gas resources within the farmington field office (FFO) in northwestern new mexico, and to project the potential future oil and gas development activity for the next 20 years (20 years would start on publication date of the RFD) based on logical and technical assumptions. To accomplish this will require evaluation of historic and current activity, occurrence potential, projected development potential including projections for future vertical and horizontal wells drilled, estimated future surface disturbance, estimated water use for hydraulic fracturing, and estimated oil and gas production volumes. The RFD is unconstrained by management-imposed conditions as IT is based primarily on geology and historical exploration and development activity. IT provides baseline scenario information to analyze long-term and or widespread effects that could result from potential exploration and development in a defined area regardless of land ownership or jurisdiction.occurrence potential for helium. Estimated future oil, gas and water production and the well development required to acquire and maintain this production. Estimated ultimate recovery of oil and gas by play and for the new mexico portion of the SAN juan basin. The estimated surface requirements disturbance to acquire the future oil and gas reserves. The water requirements and associated infrastructure accompanying said development. An estimate of the number of CO2 injection wells and volume of CO2 injected for ccus. Transform the data compiled during the project into formats for various computer applications including geospatial data usable by the BLM, other federal and state agencies, and the public.public benefit: the efforts proposed will provide important information to allow for informed decisions in management and planning regarding the development and sustainability of production in the target area. IT is of critical importance that the public realize the economic impact of these decisions and the cost of alternative management strategies to the economy of new mexico and the nation.BLM benefit: simultaneously, this proposed project will provide the BLM and the state of new mexico the means to develop solutions to minimize the impact on the environment and health and safety of all involved.
