Description
This project aligns with sdsmt s mission and supports training the next generation of scientists and engineers in the region, including native american students. IT is also in line with the department of lnterior priorities and the biden-harris administration s executive order 13985 by addressing climate change and racial equity and providing opportunities for historically disenfranchised communities. The aim of this internship program is to educate undergraduate and graduate students about the various career opportunities that are available at BLM, while also providing them with the chance to gain valuable job experience in a professional setting. The hope is that this exposure will encourage students to consider pursuing a career with BLM after graduation. Additionally, this project seeks to enhance the stem education curriculum by providing students with handson field experiences. The internship program also can promote diversity and inclusivity by providing opportunities for underrepresented groups, including minorities, women, and people with disabilities. Interns often bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the workplace, which can help BLM address complex challenges and improve their services to the public. By doing so, IT creates a diverse and highly qualified pool of candidates for BLM s student employment programs. As a result, the public will benefit from a diverse workforce that includes a range of disciplines students who will contribute to federal land management.
