THE PLAN WILL BE CREATED THROUGH A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT UTILIZING INPUT FROM STAKEHOLDERS INCLUDING, COUNTY RESIDENTS, BUSINESSES, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. AGENCIES THAT WILL PARTICIPATE WILL INCLUDE, CUSTER COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT, US FOREST SERVICE, STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA, AND THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE. STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS WILL BE HELD THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY TO COLLECT INPUT ON AREAS THAT ARE IN NEED OF FUELS REDUCTION ON BOTH PRIVATE AND PUBLIC LAND THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. STRUCTURE IGNITABILITY REDUCTION MEASURES AND PUBLIC EDUCATION WILL ALSO BE DISCUSSED. THE PLAN WILL BE DEVELOPED UTILIZING STAKEHOLDER INPUT AS WELL AS SCIENTIFIC AND BEST PRACTICES UTILIZED BY FIRE AND FOREST MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS. THE PLAN WILL PRIORITIZE, HAZARDOUS FUELS REDUCTION, REDUCTION IN STRUCTURAL IGNITABILITY, AND PUBLIC EDUCATION. THE EXPECTED OUTCOME OF THIS PLAN WILL BE A PRODUCT THAT ADDRESSES THOSE AREAS IN THE COUNTY THAT ARE MOST AT RISK FROM WILDFIRE UTILIZING THE EFFORTS DESCRIBED ABOVE AND UTILIZING THE LATEST SCIENTIFIC DATA AS WELL AS BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES TO ADDRESS AND PRIORITIZE AREAS THAT ARE IN NEED OF FUELS REDUCTION PROJECTS IN THE COUNTY. THE PLAN WILL ALSO INCLUDE METHODS FOR REDUCING STRUCTURAL IGNITABILITY AND EDUCATING THE PUBLIC THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES OF THIS PLAN WILL INCLUDE THE RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITIES OF CUSTER COUNTY, FIRST RESPONDERS, AND AGENCIES THAT ARE REQUIRED TO RESPOND TO FIRE EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY.
