- The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District will reduce hazardous fuels on 210-620 acres and plan additional hazardous fuels removal on non-federal lands in Incline Village and Crystal Bay, Nevada to mitigate wildfire risk and improve forest health through a $1.8 million cooperative agreement award from the Bureau of Land Management Nevada Region. Funded by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act program, which supports community-based conservation partnerships, the district will...
- The federal Cooperative Agreement award of $124,937 from the National Park Service's Natural Resource Stewardship program (CFDA 15.944) funds a technician team to lead integrated pest management efforts for invasive plant control within the Palisades Fire footprint in Calabasas, CA. The team will conduct surveys and treatments to remove non-native vegetation, such as annual grasses and other hazardous fuels, in order to reduce fire risk and improve native habitats. The project, implemented by...
- This Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, under the State & Private Forestry Hazardous Fuel Reduction Program (CFDA 10.697), provides $750,000.00 in funding to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (FOA) to protect communities from wildfires. The grant will support the management and implementation of hazardous fuels reduction activities on 200 acres adjacent to the Tonto National Forest, as identified in community wildfire protection...

GNA FUELS PROJECT - PARKS W & P WILL REDUCE HAZARDOUS FUELS BY TREATING NOXIOUS/INVASIVE PLANT SPECIES SUCH AS CHEATGRASS, AND OTHER RELATED FUELS WITH PROJECT AREAS. PROJECT WILL AID IN RESTORING LANDSCAPE FUNCTION AND CONNECTIVITY, CONSERVE LANDS TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE, AND REDUCE THE IMPACTS FOR AREAS IMPACTED BY WILDFIRE. THE FOCUS IN THESE AREAS IS TO REDUCE OR PREVENT INVASIVE/NOXIOUS PLANT SPECIES FROM DISRUPTING THE NATIVE SPECIES WITHIN THE AREA. NATIVE PLANT SPECIES PROVIDE FOR A MORE RESILIENT LANDSCAPE WHEN IMPACTED BY WILDFIRES. REDUCING THE SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY OF WILDLAND FIRE AIDS IN ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION OF THE AREA WHILE MINIMIZING THE IMPACTS TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES BOTH SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY. THE EXPECTED OUTCOMES ARE A REDUCTION IN THE PRESENCE OF HAZARDOUS FUELS THROUGH A REDUCTION OF INVASIVE SPECIES OVER TIME. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE THE GENERAL PUBLIC FOR SUSTAINING OR INCREASING RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ON PUBLIC LAND AS WELL AS THE AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY BY REDUCING THE FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY OF WILDLAND FIRE, WHICH IN TURN WILL ALLOW FOR SUSTAINED GRAZING PRACTICES BY LIVESTOCK PRODUCER.
