The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) awarded a $100,470 cooperative agreement to the Native American Fish & Wildlife Society (NAFWS) under the USGS Research and Data Collection program (CFDA 15.808) to support management of chronic wasting disease and white-nose syndrome on tribal lands. The project will enhance coordination and collaboration between NAFWS and USGS to engage tribal wildlife agencies in disease detection, surveillance, and adaptive management. Key deliverables include two in-person workshops on chronic wasting disease, an in-person workshop on white-nose syndrome, production of training materials and videos, and hiring an intern to support outreach and engagement work. This effort aims to build tribal research capacity and inform tribal decision-making on biological threats to wildlife on indigenous lands.
