BIOLOGICAL THREATS (INVASIVESPECIES, WILDLIFE DISEASES) DETECTION AND ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES WILL BE LEVERAGED TOINFORM RISK ASSESSMENTS AND RISK COMMUNICATION. AT THOSE MEETINGS AND POTENTIALLY OTHERS, USGS WILL SET UP ADISPLAY TABLE TO INFORM NAFWS MEMBERS ABOUT USGS CAPABILITIES AND NEW SCIENTIFICINFORMATION ON BIOLOGICAL THREATS.- NAFWS WILL WORK WITH USGS TO ENSURE MATERIALS ARE AVAILABLE FOR NAFWS MEMBERSPARTICIPATING IN CWD WORKSHOPS (E.G., 3D DEER HEADS, PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT,LAMINATED SAMPLE EXTRACTION INSTRUCTIONS).- NAFWS WILL PURCHASE AT LEAST ONE 3D DEER HEAD FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MN FOR USE BYNAFWS MEMBERS AT CWD TRAINING WORKSHOPS AND TO HAVE IT ON DISPLAY AT NAFWSMEETINGS.- PROVIDED AN ABSTRACT HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR PRESENTATION, NAFWS WILL PROVIDECOMPLIMENTARY REGISTRATION TO A MAXIMUM OF TWO NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENTS OR CONTRACTORSCURRENTLY PARTNERING WITH USGS (E.G., NATIVE AMERICAN RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIP) FOR NAFWSANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE MEETING ATTENDANCE. THESE NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENTS ORCONTRACTORS WILL THEN HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO COORDINATE, COLLABORATE, SHARE INFORMATION WITHNAFWS MEMBERS. USGS WILL GIVE APPROPRIATE EARLY NOTIFICATION TO NAFWS REGARDING PLANSFOR PARTICIPATION IN UPCOMING NAFWS MEETINGS.- NAFWS WILL DISPLAY THE USGS LOGO ON THEIR WEBSITE UNDER IN RECOGNITION OF THEIRSUPPORT AND, AS APPROPRIATE, PROVIDE HYPERLINKS TO USGS WEBSITES AND PRODUCTS RELEVANT TOBIOLOGICAL THREATS DETECTION AND MANAGEMENT. USGS SHALL LIST NAFWS AS A PARTNER ON THEIRWEBSITE WITH A LINK TO NAFWS.ORG- NAFWS WILL CO-PRODUCE WITH USGS TRAINING VIDEOS AND WEBINARS FOR WORKFORCE CAPACITYBUILDING AND INFORMATION-SHARING RELATED TO MANAGEMENT OF BIOLOGICAL THREATS ON TRIBAL LANDS.USGS AND NAFWS WILL WORK TOGETHER TO PROMOTE AND IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES FOR NAFWSMEMBERS TO VIEW THE VIDEOS.- USGS WILL PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR NAFWS STAFF AND MEMBERS TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERSTAKEHOLDERS REGARDING BIOLOGICAL THREAT ISSUES THAT ARE A PRIORITY TO INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES.FUNDING TO NAFWS MAY BE USED FOR THE TRAVEL OF STAFF AND OR MEMBERS TO SUCH MEETINGS.- NAFWS MAY UTILIZE FUNDS FOR TRAVEL OF NAFWS STAFF OR MEMBERS TO RELEVANT MEETINGS WITHUSGS. IN YEAR 1, THE FOCUS IS ON CWD-RELATED MEETINGS. FOR EXAMPLE, NAFWS MEMBERSWHO NORMALLY COULDNT AFFORD TRAVEL MAY RECEIVE NAFWS TRAVEL SUPPORT TO ATTEND REGIONALMEETINGS (ESP. WHERE A CWD WORKSHOP IS BEING HELD) TO ENHANCE TRAINING ACCESS TO TRIBALNATURAL RESOURCE MANAGERS.INTENDED BENEFICIARY: AWARD TO BE GRANTED TO NATIVE AMERICAN FISH AND WILDLIFE SOCIETY FORTHE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC AT LARGE.
