Description
By reactivating the haggan watch volunteer program, trained community members will gather standardized data on nesting activities, habitat conditions, and threats to the green sea turtle (chelonia mydas, threatened) and hawksbill sea turtle (eretmochelys imbricata, critically endangered). This data will be used to identify unmonitored or at-risk nesting sites, inform restoration priorities, and strengthen the implementation of the seashore protection plan. The project improves current management by addressing data gaps, especially in areas impacted by coastal development and climate change, and supporting adaptive strategies based on local conditions.
