About this award

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) awarded the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) a $500,000 cooperative agreement under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program (CFDA 15.631), effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030. This award represents the eighth year of a public-private partnership focused on improving habitat quality in western big game migration corridors, stopover areas, and winter ranges in support of Department of Interior Secretarial Order 3362. NFWF will serve as the lead coordinator, leveraging expertise in multi-agency collaboration to unite federal partners including the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and private sector funders such as ConocoPhillips to deliver ecosystem restoration benefits.

The partnership will generate on-the-ground conservation outcomes by combining federal resources with private sector investments to enhance habitat conditions for western big game wildlife while supporting local ranching economies. NFWF will utilize its established capacity as the nation's largest private conservation grant-maker to facilitate coordination, technical assistance, and administrative support across multiple federal agencies and private stakeholders. The program advances landscape-scale habitat restoration objectives through a cost-effective, partnership-based approach that aligns with the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program's mission of delivering voluntary conservation benefits on private and public lands.
