About this award

Farwide Conservation Inc. received a $100,000 Cooperative Agreement from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Region 2 under the Coastal Program (CFDA 15.630), effective October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2030. The primary deliverables include identification and preliminary design of wetland restoration and enhancement projects in the Texas coastal region. Farwide will develop comprehensive preliminary engineering and design plans that prioritize species conservation, habitat connectivity, and ecosystem resilience—the core objectives of the Coastal Program. These plans will serve as foundational documents for securing future funding and implementation of identified wetland conservation initiatives.

In executing this work, Farwide will coordinate with the USFWS and regional stakeholders to assess project feasibility, permitting requirements, funding sources, and potential project supporters. The cooperative agreement structure enables the organization to conduct comprehensive technical planning that aligns with Department of the Interior mission priorities and sound biological principles, positioning identified projects for successful advancement to implementation phases.

Description

Through this project, farwide will work with partners to identify potential wetland conservation projects and develop preliminary wetland restoration and enhancement plans. Project activities will include coordinating with any potential stakeholders to determine project feasibility and permitting requirements, potential limitations on project development, and potential project supporters and funding sources. The primary objective of this project is to develop preliminary engineering and design plans for wetland conservation projects that can then be used in future efforts to fund and complete those projects. Priority projects will be those that serve to fulfill the main goals of the coastal program: priority species conservation, habitat connectivity and creating resilient ecosystems.
