Description

Genetic management of hatchery production of delta smelt for supplementation of the wild population will require an efficient cross selection approach that can scale with escalating demands on genetic and production management. This project will expand previously completed software developed to provide an efficient cross selection software application. The software application can already rapidly suggest very large numbers of crosses for breeding. IT removes the need for human determination of preferred crosses. Enhancements to the existing software will provide access to historical results of the breeding process. Additionally better access to the genotype data will also be implemented in order to facilitate monitoring and modeling of genetic effects of supplementation. Documentation for deploying and using the software will also be included in this phase of the software development.
