Description

Coordinate partners and organizational priorities to leverage BIL and inflation reduction act investments with other cross program and cross agency investments to restore aquatic systems and deliver USFWS programs and resources to historically underserved communities. TU and USFWS will work together to implement a suite of focal projects where USFWS priorities to conserve aquatic tribal trust and endangered and threatened species associated with BIL investment overlap with priorities of other federal agencies and trout unlimited priority waters to maximize conservation outcomes. We also will engage rural and disadvantaged communities and indigenous communities and tribal governments to share resources and ensure that indigenous values and knowledge inform and improve conservation outcomes. To achieve these objectives TU will take several strategic actions. We will coordinate fish passage projects from the transformation project list to maximize leverage and investments from other partners including federal agencies via TU national agreements and grants. We will work with USFWS and other federal agencies to develop a framework to deliver technical training opportunities related to habitat and fish passage restoration for project implementors from key agencies and organizations working together in priority geographies. We will collaborate to develop impactful communications and storytelling tools to raise awareness of community benefits through aquatic connectivity restoration projects. We will develop a monitoring framework to ensure consistent monitoring of aquatic organism passage and process based restoration projects. We will launch a tribal partnership program to share BIL and IRA resources and perspectives among tribes and indigenous communities and USFWS and TU staff. In summary TU and USFWS will work together to benefit aquatic species and human communities through collaboration with partners who pursue sustainable natural resources and ecological and human community resilience to changing conditions.
