About this award
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded a $3,000,000 Cooperative Agreement under the National Fish Passage Program (CFDA 15.685) to the State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management State Accounting, doing business as the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. The project will remove two low dams and reconnect a 1.5-mile oxbow channel on the Middle Great Miami River in Ohio, creating a bank-to-bank nature-like fishway riffle across a 12-inch sheet pile dam that provides drinking water for the town of Piqua. This effort is part of a larger initiative to provide fish passage and reconnect 80 stream miles in the upper Great Miami River watershed for state and federal species of interest. The project will run from October 1, 2024 to May 31, 2028.
