About this award

This Cooperative Agreement award of $780,984.66 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Region 1 under the Migratory Bird Joint Ventures (CFDA 15.637) program supports the activities of the Pacific Birds Habitat Joint Venture. As a facilitator and convener, Pacific Birds brings together partners to collaborate on strategic planning, funding, project delivery, and communications related to conserving migratory bird habitats across the Pacific Flyway. The award enables Pacific Birds coordinators to communicate partner needs, plan at the landscape level, showcase partner projects, and connect on-the-ground conservation efforts with the goals of major bird initiatives. This helps partners secure funding and sustain critical habitats for migratory birds. The award is made to the non-profit organization Ducks Unlimited Inc., which leverages its expertise in wetland conservation and mapping to support federal agencies in protecting, restoring, and enhancing migratory bird habitats across the western United States.

Description

As a facilitator and convener, we know that collaboration yields the best results for strategic planning, funding, project delivery and communications, and we report the acres of bird habitats conserved to the USFWS and congress on an annual basis. Pacific birds coordinators work on behalf of the partnership. We communicate the information that partners need in their work, and plan at the landscape level to ensure that migratory birds have the habitats they need across flyways. We support organizations and promote collaboration. We showcase partner projects, knowing that public support is key to the work ahead. Pacific birds partners connect on-the-ground projects with the conservation goals of the major bird initiatives. This helps partners secure funding and sustain bird habitats across life cycles.
