Description
Parks creek remains one of the major summer rearing streams for coho salmon. Coho spend a year in the shasta river and need cool temperature flows to thrive during summer months when air temperatures climb, and flows decline. Often these natural conditions are paired with irrigation and wildfire season, both of which contribute to challenging conditions for salmon survival. Planting is proposed along a five mile reach of parks creek between HWY 99 and interstate HWY 5. This area is comprised of one large ranch owned by willing landowners. One side of the creek is fenced and will provide protection for plantings from cattle grazing.
