About this award

The Northwest California Resource Conservation & Development Council (NCRC&DC) will receive $100,000 through a five-year Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife program to remove the 18-foot East Weaver Creek Dam in Weaverville, California by June 2028. Work will include demolishing the concrete and boulder dam, installing grade control structures and large woody debris, removing accumulated sediment, and repositioning boulders to provide full fish passage over 2.5 miles of habitat. The Partners for Fish and Wildlife program aims to conserve wildlife through voluntary habitat restoration on private lands in cooperation with landowners. Dam removal and stream restoration supported by this award will reestablish connectivity for anadromous fish species by opening additional spawning and rearing areas upstream of the dam site.
