About this award

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (Foundation) received a $500,000 cooperative agreement award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife program (CFDA 15.631). The award will support the sixth year of a public-private partnership between the Foundation and USFWS to improve habitat quality in key western big game wildlife migration corridors, stopover areas, and winter ranges. Through May 2028, the Foundation will leverage the federal funding to work with USFWS, the Bureau of Land Management, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Forest Service, ConocoPhillips, and other potential partners from the private sector and non-profits. Subawards will support on-the-ground projects to restore habitat, bolster local economies, enhance ecosystem health, and help species adapt to climate change along priority migration routes in the western United States. The Partners for Fish and Wildlife program aims to conserve fish and wildlife by providing voluntary technical and financial assistance to private landowners and tribes interested in conservation.

Description

National fish and wildlife foundation (NFWF) requests 500,000 to support the sixth year of a partnership with the U.S. Fish and wildlife service (FWS) to support a public-private partnership to improve the quality of western migration corridor, stopover, and winter range habitat. The program will advance the goals of secretarial order 3362, improving habitat quality in western big-game winter range and migration corridors as well as the recent executive orders related to climate change. NFWF specializes in working with multiple federal agencies to create efficiencies of scale to address shared conservation goals in partnership with the private sector. The migration corridors partnership will allow NFWF to work with other federal agencies, including the bureau of land management (BLM), natural resources conservation service (NRCS), and U.S. Forest service (USFS), as well as conocophillips and other potential private sector funders, to support western migrations, bolster local ranching economies, and improve ecosystem health to support biodiversity and the ability of species to adapt to a changing environment.
