About this award
The Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 8 awarded a $250,000 cooperative agreement to the Klamath Watershed Partnership doing business as Klamath Watershed under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife program (CFDA 15.631). The award will fund riparian habitat restoration activities along streams impacted by the 2021 Bootleg Fire in Oregon. Specifically, the recipient will plant 1,800 acres of native trees along selected riparian reaches to stabilize soils, minimize erosion, provide fish and wildlife habitat, and enhance aquatic habitat. Plantings will add structure and shade to streams while future large woody debris recruitment is expected to improve conditions for native fish species such as Lost River suckers. The work directly supports the program's goal of voluntarily conserving fish and wildlife through partnerships with private landowners and tribes. All work will be completed by July 2027 in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
