About this award

Trout Unlimited, Inc. will receive $150,000 through a Cooperative Agreement awarded by the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 8 under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife federal grant program (CFDA 15.631). Under this award, Trout Unlimited will install low-technology process-based restoration structures in Snake Creek and the Sycan River in Oregon to increase fish passage. This includes replacing a water control structure and developing a new design to better control water levels and increase flow down an existing fish passage channel. At least five beaver dam analogs will also be installed to spread water across the floodplain and stimulate riparian growth while reducing sediment input. Large wood structures will be placed in the Sycan River mainstem. The work will be completed by September 30, 2027 to deliver the Department of the Interior's priorities of conserving natural resources through voluntary partnerships with landowners.
