About this award
The Siskiyou Resource Conservation District (SRCD) will receive $206,706.46 through a Cooperative Agreement awarded by the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 8 under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife federal grant program (CFDA 15.631). The funding will support a wood loading and floodplain connectivity project in the South Fork of the Scott River in Etna, CA from September 30th, 2022 through September 29th, 2027. Specifically, SRCD will excavate two side channels through historic mine tailings to increase floodplain connectivity and slow water rearing habitat for salmonids. Willows will also be planted throughout the side channels to deepen the riparian corridor. Additionally, five engineered log jams will be constructed in the main stem of the South Fork Scott River to increase instream habitat complexity for salmonids and activate additional areas of the river left floodplain. The award will deliver Department of the Interior priorities and USFWS mission by providing assistance to SRCD for voluntary conservation efforts that benefit fish and wildlife.
