The Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management awarded a $11,996,227 Cooperative Agreement under the Fossil Energy Research and Development (CFDA 81.089) program to the Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) for the "BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW (BIL) - ATLANTIC COAST CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) EMISSIONS STORAGE SINK (ACCESS)" project. This project aims to de-risk the development of a carbon storage complex in Miami-Dade County, Florida through the acquisition of geologic and subsurface data, the development of a regulatory-compliant operating and monitoring system, and the establishment of a commercialization plan and community support. SSEB is collaborating with several sub-awardees, including Crescent Resource Innovation, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, Florida International University, Titan Florida LLC, and Advanced Resources International, to provide technical expertise, community engagement, and other services in support of this carbon capture and storage initiative.
