The Tri-State Carbon Capture and Storage Hub project is a $69,060,830 cooperative agreement awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (CFDA 81.089 - Fossil Energy Research and Development) to establish a regional carbon dioxide storage hub in eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania. The project aims to characterize four geologic reservoirs for CO2 storage, develop an environmental information volume, and create plans for...
This Cooperative Agreement award, valued at $11,158,273, was issued by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management under the Fossil Energy Research and Development (CFDA 81.089) federal grant program. The primary objective of the "Commercial Carbon TerraVault III (CTV III) CO2 Storage Project" is to provide a safe, effective, and commercial-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) storage solution in the greater San Francisco and Sacramento area. The award, with a...
This $31,262,296 Cooperative Agreement awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (CFDA 81.089 - Fossil Energy Research and Development) aims to demonstrate the feasibility of safely converting a mature oil and gas field in the Permian Basin into a dedicated carbon dioxide (CO2) storage facility. The key objectives are to: 1) further validate the subsurface characterization, storage capacity, and technical/economic performance to inform the final...
This $11,374,288 Cooperative Agreement award from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management under the Fossil Energy Research and Development (CFDA 81.089) program supports the California-Nevada CO2 Storage Project (CANSTORE). The key objectives are to: 1) address research gaps crucial to de-risking and demonstrating commercial-scale CO2 storage in basaltic reservoirs, 2) transport CO2 safely and cost-effectively from regional emitters to the storage...
This Cooperative Agreement awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, under the Fossil Energy Research and Development program (CFDA 81.089), provides $10,772,874 in funding to Trifecta Renewable Solutions LLC to assess the feasibility of constructing a commercial-scale onshore carbon dioxide (CO2) storage hub at the Red Hills location in Mississippi. The objective is to confirm the suitability of the Red Hills CO2 Storage Hub (RHCSH) for safely...
The Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a $8,632,119 Cooperative Agreement to Sutter CCUS, LLC under the Clean Energy Demonstrations (CFDA 81.255) federal grant program. The purpose of this award is to support the construction and operation of a first-in-the-world air-cooled carbon capture facility at the Sutter Energy Center, an existing 550 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant near Yuba City, California. The project aims to capture, transport, and permanently sequester approximately...
This Cooperative Agreement award, provided by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management under the Fossil Energy Research and Development (CFDA 81.089) program, is funding a $36,864,167 project to advance the development of a biomass carbon dioxide capture and removal system at a pulp mill in Alabama. The key objectives of this project are to: 1) gather the necessary information to determine the suitability of the CO2 injection location for geologic storage, 2)...
The Department of Energy, through its Clean Energy Demonstrations program (CFDA 81.255), awarded a $500,000,000 Cooperative Agreement to National Cement Company of California, Inc. (NCC-CA) to construct and operate an integrated carbon capture and storage (CCS) system at their Lebec, California cement plant. The project will utilize three key processes: 1) replacing a portion of the plant's fossil fuel use with locally sourced biomass, 2) producing limestone calcined clay cement (LC3) to...
The Department of Energy, through its Clean Energy Demonstrations Program (CFDA 81.255), awarded a $4,199,672 Cooperative Agreement to DCC East Project LLC on September 30, 2024. This funding supports Project Tundra, an initiative to install post-combustion carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) technology at the existing Milton R. Young Station, a lignite-based coal power plant in North Dakota. The project aims to demonstrate state-of-the-art CCS technology, including system integration...

The funding supports TDA Research's design, approval, construction, and operation of a large-scale pilot carbon capture system at Basin Electric's Dry Fork Station coal-fired power plant in Campbell County, Wyoming. The pilot project aims to validate scaling factors...

TULARE COUNTY CARBON STORAGE PROJECT (TCCSP). TCCSP WILL FOCUS ON TWO MAIN OBJECTIVES. THE FIRST IS ACQUIRING SITE-SPECIFIC CHARACTERIZATION DATA TO VALIDATE CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) STORAGE ESTIMATES OF RESERVOIR UNITS AND THE COMPETENCY OF CONFINING LAYERS IN THE REGION TO PREVENT CO2 LEAKAGE TO DEVELOP A COMMERCIAL-SCALE CO2 PROJECT FURTHERING COMMERCIAL-SCALE CARBON CAPTURE UTILIZATION AND STORAGE (CCUS) DEPLOYMENT. THE SECOND OBJECTIVE IS ASSESSING, DEVELOPING, AND IMPLEMENTING A COMMUNITY BENEFITS PLAN BY ASSESSING TECHNICAL, ECONOMIC, REGULATORY, AND STAKEHOLDER ASPECTS OF THE TCCSP. THESE TASKS WILL ALLOW TCCSP TO MEET THE CARBONSAFE PHASE II OBJECTIVES BY PERFORMING A SITE-SPECIFIC CHARACTERIZATION OF THE PROJECT AREA AND SUPPORTING THE OVERARCHING GOAL OF THE DOE'S CARBON TRANSPORT AND STORAGE PROGRAM TO ENABLE AND SUPPORT THE RAPID, WIDESPREAD DEPLOYMENT CCUS TO HELP ADDRESS THE NATION'S DECARBONIZATION GOALS.
