THIS AGREEMENT OUTLINES THE MISSION-RELATED GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND ANTICIPATED OBJECTIVES AS WELL AS THE APPROACH FOR CONDUCTING NATIONAL SURVEILLANCE AND RESPONSE FOR ANIMAL HEALTH ACTIVITIES AND THE RELATED ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARTIES. FOREIGN ANIMAL DISEASE DIAGNOSTICIANS (FADDS) WILL CONDUCT INVESTIGATIONS INTO REPORTED SUSPICIOUS FOREIGN ANIMAL DISEASE (FAD) OR EMERGING DISEASE INCIDENCES. APPROXIMATELY 20 FADS ARE CONDUCTED ANNUALLY. THE DEPARTMENT WILL CONDUCT EPIDEMIOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS AND PERFORM ADDITIONAL HERD TESTING AS REQUIRED FOR PSEUDORABIES VIRUS (PRV) AND SWINE BRUCELLOSIS (SB) SURVEILLANCE REACTORS. THEY WILL FOLLOW UP ON 4 HERDS FOR SWINE BRUCELLOSIS SURVEILLANCE REACTORS ANNUALLY. IDOA FIELD STAFF WILL DOCUMENT COMPLAINTS OF ILLEGAL GARBAGE FEEDING OPERATIONS AND CONDUCT INVESTIGATIONS. ILLINOIS PROHIBITS GARBAGE FEEDING TO SWINE. THEY WILL PARTICIPATE IN 18-25 EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS-RELATED ACTIVITIES. IDOA PERSONNEL WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS AND EDUCATE THE 1,571 VETERINARIAN ACCREDITED TO PERFORM WORK ON LIVESTOCK AND 1678 SWINE PRODUCERS ON THE IMPORTANCE IN WORKING COLLABORATIVELY TO REDUCE DISEASE RISK AND INCREASE DISEASE REPORTING. BY CONDUCTING FAD INVESTIGATIONS 20/YEAR AND FOLLOWING UP ON SWINE BRUCELLOSIS SURVEILLANCE REACTORS 4/YEAR WILL PROTECT SWINE PRODUCERS IN ILLINOIS. THEIR EDUCATION EFFORTS FOR 1571 ACCREDITED VETERINARIANS AND X SWINE PRODUCERS PER YEAR ABOUT SWINE DISEASES AND BIOSECURITY ENHANCE THE PROTECTION OF THE SWINE INDUSTRY IN ILLINOIS. THESE EFFORTS WILL IMPROVE SWINE DISEASE AND COMPLIANCE FOR 5,500,000 HOGS. THIS ABILITY TO PERFORM DISEASE SURVEILLANCE HELPS TO ENSURE FOOD SAFETY AND THE INTEGRITY OF OUR LIVESTOCK EXPORT MARKETS FOR THE U.S. PUBLIC. THERE WILL NOT BE SUBAWARDS FOR THIS AGREEMENT.
