The Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service awarded a $100,386 cooperative agreement to the Kansas Department of Agriculture on April 1, 2026, under the Plant and Animal Disease, Pest Control, and Animal Care program (CFDA 10.025) to support swine health program activities in Kansas through March 31, 2027. The award funds swine health surveillance, disease investigation and control, emergency preparedness and response planning, zoonotic disease prevention, and stakeholder outreach. APHIS's Swine Health Program protects swine industry health, productivity, and economic viability while facilitating trade in swine and pork products and addressing health issues at the human-swine and wildlife-swine interfaces. The program maintains national standards through regulatory and programmatic guidelines that direct activities at federal, state, and tribal levels, supporting interstate and international commerce.
