THIS AGREEMENT COVERS A PPA-7721 FUNDED PROJECT. THIS PROJECT WILL FUND WORK TO FIND ALTERNATIVES FOR DICHLORVOS-IMPREGNATED INSECTICIDAL STRIPS. SEVERAL STATES HAVE INCREASED THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR HANDLING THESE STRIPS AND THESE INCREASES COULD INCREASE SURVEY COSTS. ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: SEVERAL SPECIES (BOX TREE MOTH, SPONGY MOTH, WINTER MOTH, TENT CATERPILLARS) OF MOTH PESTS WILL BE TRAPPED USING DICHLORVOS ALTERNATIVES AS WELL AS CHANGES IN HOW TRAPS ARE PLACED. DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES: A LIST OF POTENTIAL REPLACEMENTS FOR DICHLORVOS PESTICIDE STRIPS WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE BOX TREE MOTH, SPONGY MOTH, SURVEY SUPPLY AND COOPERATIVE AGRICULTURAL PEST SURVEY CROSS FUNCTIONAL WORKING GROUPS. THESE REPLACEMENTS WILL CONSIDER HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE SURVEYOR, CHECKING TIME, EASE OF USE, AND THE CONDITION OF THE COLLECTED MOTHS TO BE ABLE TO VISUALLY ID OR CONDUCT MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTICS. INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: EFFORTS WILL SUPPORT EFFORTS OF PLANT PROTECTION AND QUARANTINE, AND OTHER COLLABORATING FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES, TO PROVIDE EARLY DETECTION TOOLS FOR THESE POTENTIALLY INVASIVE MOTH PESTS. ADDITIONALLY, THIS WORK WILL SUPPORT THE COOPERATIVE AGRICULTURAL PEST SURVEY.
