THE PURPOSE OF THIS AGREEMENT IS TO DEVELOP MATERIALS THAT ENABLE THE IDENTIFICATION OF ALL NORTH AMERICAN CHRYSOBOTHRIS BUPRESTIDS AND SELECTED NON NATIVE CHRYSOBOTHRIS SPECIES OF CONCERN, AND TO DISTRIBUTE THESE MATERIALS TO PROFESSIONALS INVOLVED IN DETECTION, MONITORING, AND IDENTIFICATION EFFORTS NATIONWIDE. ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: MORE THAN 140 NORTH AMERICAN AND NON-NATIVE CHRYSOBOTHRIS SPECIES WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHED IN DETAIL, LABELLED AND INCORPORATED INTO AN IDENTIFICATION KEY GUIDE. DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES: A TESTABLE DRAFT OF AN EASY-TO-USE KEY TO US CHRYSOBOTHRIS AND POTENTIAL INVASIVE SPECIES WITH NECESSARY IMAGES CAPTURED, PROCESSED AND INCORPORATED. THIS IS YEAR TWO OF A THREE-YEAR PROJECT. INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: THE CHRYSOBOTHRIS IDENTIFICATION TOOL WILL BE AVAILABLE NATIONWIDE, ENHANCING DIAGNOSTIC CAPABILITIES FOR SCREENING, IDENTIFICATION, AND PROCESSING OF SURVEY SAMPLES. THIS RESOURCE WILL INCREASE THE EXPERTISE AND CAPACITY OF BOTH STATE AND FEDERAL COOPERATORS, ENABLING THEM TO IDENTIFY A WIDER RANGE OF PLANT PESTS MORE EFFICIENTLY.
