About this award

The Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service awarded Purdue University $475,000 under a Cooperative Agreement on October 1, 2025, to develop and operate the Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey Information Services (CAPSIS), a decision-support environment for the agency's Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) pest surveillance programs.

The university's deliverables include data acquisition, management, mapping, statistical queries, metric information support, public-facing views, workflow support, and software management tools designed to enhance awareness of survey activities and exotic species information. These tools will support PPQ's regulatory and pest management decision-making and provide transparency to commodity exporters, agriculture stakeholders, and the public regarding pest surveillance efforts and responses to new pest introductions.

The cooperative agreement runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026, with place of performance in Indiana. The award is funded under CFDA 10.025 (Plant and Animal Disease, Pest Control, and Animal Care), which supports efforts to protect U.S. agriculture from economically injurious plant and animal diseases and pests. No sub-recipients are included in this award.
