Description
- Purpose
- The purpose of this agreement is to provide funding for the AR dept of AG to conduct a honeybee survey in arkansas as part of an ongoing national cooperative effort to track honeybee pests and pesticide residue in hives. The purpose is to assist with determining the contributing factors to honeybee decline.
- Activities
- The honeybee survey will be conducted at 24 apiaries collecting samples of live and dead bees for presence of mites and other BEE pests as well as BEE bread for presence of pesticide residues. Survey will follow the methods of the work plan provided by the national operations manager. Education and outreach efforts will also be conducted with apiarists to educate them about honeybee pests and how to eradicate/control them in hives.
