Description

Research using economic theory and applied econometrics to study airport wildlife hazards and aircraft wildlife collisions for hazard management at civil and military facilities. The purpose of this agreement is to provide funding to support collaborative research efforts between colorado state university (CSU) and wildlife services (WS). These research efforts will focus on the application of economic theory and applied econometrics to study the economics of airport wildlife hazards, aircraft- wildlife collisions (i.e., wildlife strikes), and wildlife hazard management at civil and/or military facilities. This research will provide the USDA/aphis/WS airport wildlife hazards program (AWHP) with peer-reviewed economic science that furthers our understanding of the economic burden of aircraft-wildlife collisions and/or the impact of wildlife management interventions on observed wildlife hazards and strike metrics.
