Description

Aphis initiative-protection of agriculture: the purpose of this agreement is to study the feasibility of the ASF red book and playbook for the management of african swine fever in feral swine populations. The specific objectives of the study are to 1) examine the effectiveness of a stamping out program based on the use of cameras and traps, 2) estimate how quickly recolonization of the target area occurs, and 3) quantify and describe the effort and resources needed to eliminate any wild pigs that attempt to recolonize the zone. Beyond the research community at the foreign animal disease/feral swine interface, the intended beneficiaries are emergency disease response managers, land managers, and policy makers. No subawards will be offered.
