Description
Increasing the disease response rate is accomplished through training. "PREPARE2RESPOND" a 2019 USDA‐aphis‐VS‐nadprp funded proposal that produced a nationally available learning platform in 2022 for educating fair and exposition employees and personnel, as well as first responders that work with fairs and expositions, on disease mitigation and biosecurity is the start of the training process. Taking the online education into action is what TTX play is positioned to do. We will begin with subject matter experts (SME's) including fairs industry professionals, animal and public health officials, emergency response personnel, etc. In focus groups to determine priorities in the TTX play development. A group of selected SME's will be invited along with the core team to gather for a TTX play planning and writing summit. Once the scripts for TTX play are complete and peer reviewed we will put them into action to verify the experience. We will build the online training experience and once complete and the train‐the‐trainer learning management system is online, learners can independently train. These trainers will then facilitate local table‐top‐exercises working with local fair management, employees, emergency response and volunteers. This approach stands to have a broad reach and should show exponential impacts on disease mitigation related to fairs and exhibitions and beyond. If a disease outbreak occurs, the experiential learning from the local ttxs directed by trained trainers through P2R will help build a grass roots effort in disease mitigation. Fair management, employees, and volunteers that are either involved in executing the fair and exhibitions or those that are involved in emergency management should all be engaged in this program. "prepare 2 respond" will support the trainers that will engage and learn from the learning management system with TTX play, the resources needed to be successful in training communities at the local level and the individuals that might be the first to identify when there is a potential problem.
