Description

Aphis declared the PBW as eradicated from commercial cotton in 2018. Because natural PBW populations exist in south FL, monitoring commercial cotton in north FL is a necessary first step to guard against new PBW introductions and establishment. Activities to be performed: sebwef will use the award to support personnel, trapping supplies, and travel costs directly associated with PBW surveillance efforts. Deliverables and expected outcomes: the main outcome of this award is to maintain the eradication of PBW from U.S. Cotton production through early detection. Monitoring results are presented through annual reports. Beneficiaries of the PBW surveillance program include the U.S. Cotton industry, its stakeholders, and U.S. Jobs related to cotton production and export.
