AWARD PURPOSE: THE PURPOSE OF THE COTTON SEED BUG (CSB) SURVEY AWARD IS SURVEY FOR THIS PEST WITH A VIEW TO DETECTION AND / OR MONITORING WITH INTENT TO EITHER WORK ON ERADICATION OR MITIGATION OF ITS IMPACT ON ARIZONA GROWN COTTON. 2. ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: INCLUDED IN THE 2023 PLAN, IS THE ON-GOING SURVEY OF 10% OF ALL COTTON PRODUCTION FIELDS IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA. THE SURVEY WILL BE CONDUCTED THROUGH A SAMPLING OF COTTON BOLLS IN SELECTED FIELDS. IT WILL UTILIZE ONE OF TWO METHODS: 1) VISUAL INSPECTION (PREFERRED AND MOST EFFICIENT METHOD); AND 2) COLLECTION. REGARDLESS OF WHICH METHOD IS USED FOR FIELD-COLLECTION OF INSECTS FROM COTTON BOLLS DURING ARIZONA CSB SURVEYS, PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATIONS WILL BE PERFORMED BY ACRPC PERSONNEL. ALL SURVEY RESULTS, INCLUDING NEGATIVE FINDINGS, WILL BE ENTERED INTO THE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL PEST INFORMATION SYSTEM (NAPIS) OR SIMILAR APPROVED DATABASE WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF COLLECTION. ANY SUSPECT POSITIVE CSB WILL BE SENT TO A USDAAPHIS-PPQ DIAGNOSTICS LABORATORY FOR CONCLUSIVE IDENTIFICATION. 3. DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES: A. DELIVERABLES: A. A DETERMINATION OF THE PRESENCE/ABSENCE OF CSB IN ARIZONA. B. AFFIRMATION OF ABSENCE OF CSB IN HIGH-RISK LOCATIONS. C.
