THE PURPOSE OF THIS AGREEMENT IS TO CONDUCT HONEY BEE SURVEYS ANDSAMPLING IN STATES THAT COULD NOT DO THE SAMPLING THEMSELVES AS PART PFTHE NATIONAL HONEY BEE SURVEY, DOCUMENTING WHICH DISEASES, PARASITES ANDPESTS OF HONEY BEES ARE AND ARE NOT PRESENT IN THE U.S. BEE INFORMEDPARTNERSHIP (BIP) WILL COLLECT SAMPLES FROM SIX STATES WHICH WILL BESENT TO UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND FOR ANALYSIS. THE RESULTING DATA FROMTHIS EFFORT WILL BE COMBINED WITH PAST YEARS' DATA, ACTING AS A BASELINEFROM WHICH BEEKEEPERS AND BEE HEALTH PROFESSIONALS CAN IDENTIFY EMERGINGISSUES, IDENTIFY RISK FACTORS, AND DESIGN BEE HEALTH MITIGATIONPROGRAMS. SURVEY EFFORTS WILL ALSO SUPPORT U.S. HONEY BEE QUEENPRODUCERS TO REQUESTS FOR THE OPENING OF AND/OR CONTINUED ACCESS TOFOREIGN MARKETS SUCH AS CANADA.
