Description
The aim is to establish fresh partnerships with farmers, ranchers, and producers who are socially disadvantaged in osage county. The initiative will be called prairie to plate food outreach. The prairie to plate food outreach will have numerous producers to partner with to provide healthy, low-processed food items in the monthly distribution. The program will begin with three producers and gradually add more as needed. They will supply fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat which will benefit the targeted population by heightening the opportunity to add these low-processed foods into their daily consumption. The number of food boxes that will be distributed monthly is 200; roughly each box will serve a household of four. This will occur monthly at the osage nation elder nutrition site in pawhuska oklahoma. Additional recipient numbers would be based on approximations as the disbursements will include a tribal school, early learning academy, daycare centers, and osage county nutrition sites for elders. Quarterly performance reports will be submitted to capture the number of producers, socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, distribution sites, and underserved locations as well as funds expended for each category. Annual reports will provide percentages of new marketing opportunities and purchases distributed beyond current food distribution networks. Based on the new partnerships and vendor connections within the underserved communities, the projected retention percentage would be 45%. The recipient does not intend to subaward funds.
