THE PURPOSE OF THIS AGREEMENT IS TO PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTE LOCAL FOOD TARGETING PURCHASES FROM SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED FARMERS AND RANCHERS. THE GOAL FOR THIS PROJECT IS TO PROVIDE TRIBAL MEMBERS IN OLD HARBOR (135), KODIAK (165) AND ANCHORAGE (250), ALASKA WITH A RICH BISON MEAT AND SALMON FILLETS. THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE A LOCAL, SUSTAINABLE, HEALTHY, NUTRITIONAL BISON AND SALMON FOR TRIBAL MEMBERS TO SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY IN THE FIGHT AGAINST DIABETES AND OTHER DIETARY DISEASES THAT NEGATIVELY IMPACT ALUTIIQ PEOPLE. THE PROPOSED PROJECT WILL PURCHASE MINIMALLY PROCESSED BISON AND SALMON FROM LOCAL, SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED PRODUCERS - OLD HARBOR ALLIANCE (BISON) AND KODIAK ISLAND WILDSOURCE (SALMON). THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE APPROXIMATELY 22,000 POUNDS OF BISON MEAT AND 16,500 POUNDS OF SALMON TO TRIBAL MEMBERS IN THREE UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. QUARTERLY PERFORMANCE REPORTS WILL BE SUBMITTED TO CAPTURE THE NUMBER OF PRODUCERS, SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED FARMERS AND RANCHERS, DISTRIBUTION SITES, AND UNDERSERVED LOCATIONS AS WELL AS FUNDS EXPENDED FOR EACH CATEGORY. ANNUAL REPORTS WILL PROVIDE PERCENTAGES OF NEW MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES AND PURCHASES DISTRIBUTED BEYOND CURRENT FOOD DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS. THE ALUTIIQ TRIBE OF OLD HARBOR WILL WORK WITH TWO LOCAL DISADVANTAGED PRODUCERS FOR THE PROPOSED PROJECT. THE ALUTIIQ TRIBE OF OLD HARBOR WILL CONTRACT WITH THE OLD HARBOR ALLIANCE FOR THE PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTION OF 22,000 POUNDS OF BISON MEAT. THE ALUTIIQ TRIBE OF OLD HARBOR WILL CONTRACT WITH KODIAK ISLAND WILDSOURCE FOR THE PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTION OF 16,500 POUNDS OF SALMON FILLETS. THE EXPECTED RECIPIENTS INCLUDE RESIDENTS OF OLD HARBOR (220).
