Description
Elders outreach program enhancement of locally & culturally relevant foods supports and provides traditional food, minimally processed, and locally produced bounty to underserved tribal members, elders, veterans, and community members living in the boundaries of ninilchik village tribal boundaries. Ensuring local producers, farmers, harvesters, and processers are connected to the elders outreach program enhancement of locally & culturally relevant foods and continue to bridge connections for further development of providing local bounty to those designated is a goal and effort for the long term ties the elders outreach program ensures to develop. The elders outreach program enhancement of locally & culturally relevant foods intends to maintain relationships with local producers, purchase and transport their goods and deliver to underserved tribal members, elders, veterans, and at-risk community members over the duration of the local food purchase assistance grant and furthermore continue those relationships to ensure those agreements and future purchases will continue past the grant period. Quarterly performance reports will be submitted to capture the number of producers, socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, distribution sites, and underserved locations as well as funds expended for each category. Annual reports will provide percentages of new marketing opportunities and purchases distributed beyond current food distribution networks. The elders outreach program enhancement of locally & culturally relevant foods intends to purchase local seafood, meats and agriculture from local producers, processers, and farmers. The elders outreach program enhancement of locally & culturally relevant foods will distribute those foods to underserved tribal members, elders, veterans, and community members in the boundaries of ninilchik village tribe. The elders outreach program enhancement of locally & culturally relevant foods intends to increase the benefit of economic gains for those producers while serving those allocated in our local area the traditional and culturally relevant foods, they are accustomed to keeping those foods in our area and serving the demographic that otherwise could not afford IT. The elders outreach program serves elders, tribal members, veterans, and at-risk community members and provides a luncheon weekly to help provide social and nutritional aspects, the additional funding could further implement the programs overall goals of providing bounty and harvested foods locally. The elders outreach program enhancement of locally & culturally relevant foods intends to purchase culturally relevant foods from producers such as indian valley meats, starlight seafoods, peninsula processing and smokehouse, mcneil canyon meats, northern meats, mike's quality meats, C & J tender meat CO., echo lake meats, custom seafoods, F/V coho, US foods, the alaska food hub, kenai reindeer farm, oceanside farms and other local processors and producers. This is just a brief of intended producers, while connecting with local producers and processors IT appears we will make further connections given the networking in the smaller producers ties and we intend to give our business to those locally and seasonally who can offer the bounty and foods our people rely on. Currently the demographic the elders outreach program serves as an enrolled tribal elder is 107, in 2023 there are 118 registered voters in the ninilchik village tribe and 1,058 enrolled tribal members, there are currently 964 community members in ninilchik. IT is worth stating that alaska has more residents on welfare, per capita, than any other state in the nation, according to figures released 9/3/2014 by the U.S. Census bureau. Given the pool of enrolled tribal elders, members, veterans, and at-risk community members as well as low-income families in the area, the expectation to serve the highest threshold possible is the intent of the program's goals.
