About this award

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Global Health awarded a cooperative agreement totaling $78,980,821 to DAI Global LLC, doing business as DAI, to improve the capacity of countries in high-risk areas to respond to outbreaks of emergent zoonotic diseases in Uganda. The purpose of this agreement was to enhance Uganda's ability to detect and respond to zoonotic disease outbreaks from 2009 to 2014 through USAID's Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas program. This five-year project aimed to strengthen Uganda's disease surveillance and outbreak response systems, build laboratory and epidemiology capacity, improve risk communication, and facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration between human and animal health agencies to more effectively address zoonotic threats in Uganda and the surrounding region.
