Description
Activities:the activities to be performed are design of a like-sized bolted steel replacement tank, in addition to a bolted 35,000-gallon maintenance tank to allow for system redundancy when the tank is taken offline. These tanks will involve a slight expansion of the existing concrete pad. Other minor improvements include fire hardening of an adjacent pump station control building roof, pumping control upgrades at the U4 pump station to facilitate construction, vegetation management for fire safety, stormwater improvements, and post-construction access road repairs and minor road improvements.subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:replaced tank in combination with the maintenance tank will improve the structural longevity of the tank and provide long-term water supply reliability. IT will avoid tank failure, and thus avoid discharge of 400,000 gallons of chlorinated water into ephemeral drainage that runs into the baldwin and wilder creek watershed. This is an important watershed for native fish and wildlife. One of the sensitive wildlife species known to occur in this watershed is the california red-legged frog. Beneficiaries include the residents of the city of santa cruz and various flora and fauna species in the area. This agreement provides full federal funding in the amount of $1,000,000.00. Preaward costs have been approved back to 8/1/2023.
