Description
This agreement provides funding to the township of moorestown to implement its project to replace the existing dual water mains on kings highway (county route 611) between lenola road and camden avenue, and on west main street between camden avenue and church street as directed in the 2023 consolidated appropriations act or as identified in an approved technical correction if one has been approved for this project.activities:the existing water mains have been in service for more than 100 years and are beyond their service life. The poor condition of the existing water mains has resulted in frequent breaks and emergency repairs that interrupt service and deteriorate roadways. Failure to take action on replacement of the existing water main will result in additional interruptions to residents. The objective is to provide reliable delivery of potable water, reducing service interruptions that disrupt households who rely on the township water system and cause travel delays where traffic is slowed or detoured for emergency water main repairs. The activities to be performed are to replace the existing dual water mains on kings highway (county route 611) between lenola road and camden avenue, and on west main street between camden avenue and church street with a single 12' main. Approximately 109 water services will be replaced. Within the project limits, new fire hydrants are being installed nearby existing ones. Once the new hydrants are in service, the old hydrants will be capped and removed. Water services are also being replaced with new 1' copper 'k' service lines. Concrete work includes curbing, sidewalk, and aprons removed and/or damaged by construction, as well as new ADA compliant handicap ramps at various intersections along the project.subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:environmental results/benefits: the project supports delivery of reliable and safe drinking water through addressing aging drinking water infrastructure. This will reduce the number of community water systems in noncompliance by avoiding noncompliance and maintaining the current health-based standards that protect public health from the risk of exposure to regulated and emerging contaminants in drinking and source water. Based on the age of the existing mains, IT is expected that some of the fixture connections for water services may contain lead, thus replacing these lines improves the quality of the townships water system. Outcomes: - the likelihood of main break will be significantly reduced due to new watermain being installed. - this will result in fewer roadway closures and less impacts to water usage by residents. - water safety will be improved fir township residents with the replacement of lead lines with cement lined ductile iron pipe.
