This Cooperative Agreement, awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 66.818), will provide $1,500,000 in funding to the Bel-O-Mar Regional Council to conduct brownfield assessment and cleanup planning activities in Marshall, Ohio, and Wetzel Counties in West Virginia, as well as Belmont County, Ohio.
Specifically, the agreement will support the council's efforts to inventory, characterize, assess, and develop cleanup plans for brownfield sites within its jurisdiction. The recipient will also engage the community and competitively procure qualified environmental professionals to perform site assessment activities. Key anticipated outcomes include 20 Phase I and 18 Phase II environmental site assessments, 6 community meetings, 10 site-specific cleanup plans, and 10 planning documents to initiate brownfield revitalization. The award period is from July 1, 2024, to September 30, 2028.
