DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING TO CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND TO IMPLEMENT ITS PROJECT TO INSTALL A NEW 5.0 MGD INTERCONNECTING PIPELINE BETWEEN WSSC WATER AND WALDORF FINISHED WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AS DIRECTED IN THE 2023 CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT, OR AS IDENTIFIED IN AN APPROVED TECHNICAL CORRECTION IF ONE HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THIS PROJECT.ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED ARE FINAL ALIGNMENT AND SIZING OF THE INTERCONNECTION PIPELINE PENDING THE COMPLETION OF A ROUTING ANALYSIS. THE INTERCONNECTION WILL INCLUDE A NEW CONNECTION POINT TO THE WSSC WATER SYSTEM IN THE VICINITY OF ROUTE 301; INSTALLATION OF NEW PIPE MATERIALS, FITTINGS, METERING VAULT; AND NEW TAP INTO THE WALDORF SYSTEM (TO BE LOCATED IN A SECTION OF EXISTING 16-INCH DIAMETER PIPE). ROUTES FOR THE INTERCONNECTING PIPELINE WILL BE EVALUATED TO PRIORITIZE KEEPING PIPELINE INFRASTRUCTURE WITHIN EXISTING RIGHT-OF-WAYS, OUT OF PRIVATE PROPERTY AND TO MINIMIZE CONSTRUCTION IN UNDEVELOPED AREAS. ONCE THE NEW INTERCONNECTION IS INSTALLED AND OPERATIONAL, CHARLES COUNTY WILL BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE PROJECTED NEAR-TERM DRINKING WATER DEMANDS SAFELY AND RELIABLY IN THE WALDORF REGION.SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE A NEW LARGER CAPACITY INTERCONNECTING PIPELINE FROM WSSC WATER CAPABLE OF WITHDRAWING AND CONVEYING UP TO 5.0 MGD OF DRINKING WATER TO THE WALDORF SYSTEM, WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO LEAD TO MEETING CHARLES COUNTY'S PROJECTED NEAR-TERM DRINKING WATER DEMAND GUARANTEEING SUFFICIENT AND RELIABLE DRINKING WATER FOR RESIDENTS IN THE WALDORF AREA.
