Description
- Purpose
- The purpose of this grant is to develop an open-standards, life cycle analysis-specific ontology extension for the industrial ontology foundry core leveraging biomanufacturing-specific ontology extensions and validating the life cycle analysis ontology with two biomanufacturing use cases from cooperative biomade product owners.
- Activities
- Major activities will include establishing an ontology development environment and a demonstration environment, developing the life cycle analysis ontology and iterating through refinements, and validating and refine the life cycle analysis ontology using the two biomanufacturing technical cases identified from the biomade institute.expected outcome: at the completion of this project, life cycle analysis will be available for integration into the biomanufacturing digital thread through the life cycle analysis ontology, facilitating streamlined commercialization of biomanufactured products.
- Intended beneficiaries
- A life cycle analysis-focused ontology would solve inadequate interoperability of data and analysis methods creating better interoperability and RE-use of life cycle analysis methods and data within enterprises and across the biomanufacturing domain. Ultimately, the life cycle analysis ontology will facilitate faster commercialization of BIO-manufactured products and ready identification of less environmentally burdened methods and materials.
- Subrecipient activities
