- Intended beneficiaries
- The public will benefit as forensic science practitioners and forensic science service providers voluntary adopt consensus-based forensic standards into their quality systems and standard operating procedures. These standards define minimum requirements, best practices, standard protocols, and other guidance to help ensure that the results of forensic analysis are valid, reliable and reproducible. Standards are only beneficial if they are used. The adoption of these forensic standards in everyday practice, can improve consistency within and across forensic science disciplines, ensure confidence in the accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of laboratory results, and positively increase the impact of admissibility and expert testimony in courts of law. The tools and targeted outreach being provided by the recipient will increase the volunteer adoption of these standards by the forensic science practitioners, providers, and the broader legal community.
