PURPOSE: THE PURPOSE OF THIS GRANT IS TO FUND 5 SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE PHYSICS STUDENTS FOR 10-WEEK POSITIONS FOR UNDERGRADUATE PHYSICS STUDENTS IN SCIENCE RESEARCH AT NIST.ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: STUDENTS WILL WORK ON NIST CAMPUS FULL-TIME FOR 10-WEEKS. THE INTERNS WILL BE PARTNERED WITH NIST STAFF AS MENTORS AND CONDUCT LABORATORY BASED RESEARCH, ADVANCING NIST PROJECTS, GAINING RESEARCH EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS, AND DEVELOPING THE WRITTEN AND VERBAL SKILLS TO PRESENT AND COMMUNICATE COMPLEX TECHNICAL INFORMATION.EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THE INTERNS WILL GAIN RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND DEVELOP THE WRITTEN AND VERBAL SKILLS TO PRESENT AND COMMUNICATE COMPLEX TECHNICAL INFORMATION, CRITICAL TO CAREER DEVELOPMENT.
